Infant Exams

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry advises parents to create their child’s “dental home” around the time of the child’s first birthday or whenever their first teeth erupt, whatever comes first. It may seem odd to take a child to the dentist that early, but the establishment of a dental home is one of the best ways to set the foundation for your child’s healthy smile for life!

During the infant visit, one of our board certified pediatric dentists will evaluate your child’s oral development to ensure everything is erupting properly and, most importantly, answer any questions that you may have regarding how to care for the oral health of your child.

Topics we will discuss during the infant visit include:

  1. Appropriate toothbrush and toothpaste to use for your child
  2. When to start brushing
  3. How to brush an uncooperative child’s teeth
  4. Diet, including breastfeeding and bottle feeding
  5. Sugars! And how to make the “best” choices of treats for your child
